BAINA Bathe
Volume 27.
Emily Bonita

Our series of BAINA BATHE explores the personal connection to one's daily bathing rituals. Seeking the moments where we allow ourselves to go a little deeper, indulge in time with self, and disconnect from the world beyond the bathroom door.

Emily Bonita is a New York-based multifaceted creative whose work spans digital marketing, consulting, photography, styling, and content creation. "Bathing helps me reset and wash away the day, allowing me to reconnect with myself.

I aim to take a daily evening bath, following a simple yet intentional routine. I always accompany it with ambient music—Brian Eno is a personal favorite."

"The scents I use are always woodsy and earthy, reminding me of my childhood home in Canada. The warm water and scents help me feel peaceful.

My bathing rituals have a beautiful continuity and a personal connection to my mother's rituals. I've kept some of her practices without even realizing it."

I prioritize bathing because it gives me a much-needed mental break. I look forward to it, knowing that I can let go of the day's weight once I step into the bath.

"My bathing routine has changed over the years. I used to rush, but now I take my time to sit with myself.

Creating the perfect ambiance is vital for me. I love setting the mood with woodsy scents, ambient music, or nature sounds. Depending on the time, I may light candles, delve into a good book, or watch an old film I love."

"My most cherished memory is swimming in the lake where my family used to go camping. The calm lake, the trees, and the quiet of nature made me feel completely free and connected. Those moments by the lake gave me a lasting sense of calm that I still carry with me."

My bathing ritual feels like; being wrapped in warmth smells like; a fresh forest breeze tastes like; warm mint tea sounds like; "Deep Blue Day" by Brian Eno looks like; a good book or film with candlelight.
