BAINA Bathe
Volume 28.
Daphne Javitch

Our series of BAINA BATHE explores the personal connection to one's daily bathing rituals. Seeking the moments where we allow ourselves to go a little deeper, indulge in time with self, and disconnect from the world beyond the bathroom door.

LA based health coach and founder of Doing Well, Daphne Javitch, has whole heartedly devoted her time and energy to the exploration of holistic wellness and inspires action. Following a successful career in fashion that spanned until 2013, an unforeseen hospitalisation sparked her journey of healing. Daphne has since dedicated herself to sharing a practical approach to vibrant health. Through Doing Well, she coaches clients on the power of consistent, and simple principles, to create a straight forward routine thats rooted in everyday life.

In this volume of BAINA Bathe, Daphne reflects on how bathing is a blend of routine and relaxation, offering both purposeful renewal and cherished moments of self-care.

"My showers are almost strategic—I'm habit stacking in there! I'll shave while my conditioner sets or even chug water... while baths are about letting go and indulging in a slow soak.

I like a very hot bath with 2-4 scoops of plain epsom salt. Occasionally, I'll add a few drops of eucalyptus oil. I might do a face mask in the tub and I always slather oil all over my body afterwards while I'm still damp.

I love and look forward to a steamy shower or hot bath after my kids are asleep before getting into bed myself."

"I find the transitional nature of bathing very healing. Showers are a way for me to rinse off the day. Baths are unburdening and restorative. Both are a small fresh start."

"A few years ago, I started adding cold exposure to my shower routine. I turn the water all the way cold for a few minutes at the end. It's invigorating! And before bed it helps with sleep. I also use a dry brush before bathing, a wash cloth (for my face) during, and a lotion or oil post-bathe."

"A cherished memory of mine is from summers I spent growing up in Connecticut, when my dad and I would bring shampoo outside during daytime rainstorms and use the runoff from the roof to lather and wash our hair."

My bathing ritual feels like; relief smells like; peppermint or rose soap tastes like; salt  sounds; quiet.
